The RUSH System (which is an acronym for the Rigmar Underdeck Suspended Habitat system) is an innovative idea made up of a merger of existing components. Used to create a versatile, heavy-duty yet lightweight suspended access system it can be used to provide a safe, time-saving and secure working space for a variety of disciplines.
Essentially created as a project solution, the design quickly evolved into a pioneering system which allows non-rope access personnel swift access to blast, paint, fabricate, inspect and carry out essential maintenance, in remote areas without the use of scaffold.
In February 2009 a valued client approached the engineering department at Rigmar with a view to completing a critical full underdeck painting programme in a standard thirty-two (32) day shipyard SPS. This scope of work was to be undertaken as part of a large scale, multi-discipline project. With several conflicting scopes of work to be completed, including diving, construction & inspection directly beneath the proposed painting works a workable solution was sought.
Rigmar Services, having extensive experience using tensioned netting systems, were initially approached with a view to completing the project using the netting arrangement. After a detailed survey of the vessel it was decided that although a very versatile system, tensioned netting was not suitable from a safety, technical or commercial aspect.
During the survey however, the use of suspended rigid platforms was discussed….and the infant RUSH system was born.
